@ryanleesipes and AFAIK #Mozilla only has the #Trademark for #Thunderbird and @thunderbird is being granted useage for no fee...

Personally I wish Mozilla would also release #Firefox if not come to an arrangement where @torproject / #TorBrowser becomes the new #Upstream instead.

After all, that"s certainly better re: #privacy and way better than "yet another #Chromium fork" like #BraveBrowser ...

Granted, @tails_live @tails / #Tails and @torproject / #TorBrowser are propably one of the best & most battle-tested options that are useable for #TechIlliterates...

OFC #OpenBSD + #LynxBrowser forced through #Tor would be more #secure (on paper) but we can all agree it's neither feasible nor practical to expect "#Normies" to work within a 80x25 TUI and learn #BSD.

If not for being absurd then for the fact that people need to get things done!

And it's not as if I haven't taught people how to get started, ranging from having to crash-course someone remotely via chat to hand-on #CryptoParty sessions: If it's way more complex than an AKM chances are people won't stick with it!

So you can imagine how glad I was when @thunderbird merged #Enigmail into #Thunderbird so there's no more fiddling around getting #PGP/MIME to work!

Because they'd rather focus on the few projects they can maintain at their staffing and budget than become the next "Apache Foundation" piling up #Abandonware.

And lets be honest @tails_live / @tails / #Tails is way more important to maintain as with #TorBrowser, literally human lives depend on it!

They completely loose #focus and I think they should hand over #Firefox to @torproject and turn #TorBrowser into the Upstream...

Personally I believe the @europarl_en & @EUCommission could do that and establish as well as enforce an #EC #norm, just as they did with #USBc, #CCS2 and #GDPR!

It's just lack of political #pressure and #will to actually deal with the #AntiCompetitive-ness of #GAFAMs and given #Microsoft got forced into the #BrowserChoice setup in #WindowsXP & #Windows7, I demand the same for #iOS, #macOS and #Windows11 to include not only #Firefox & #Chrome but also #TorBrowser!

#Android needs to be better as in being more than just the "lesser evil" compared to iOS!

The trick is to never have anything on your device and have a dedicaded burner!

Using @tails_live / @tails / #Tails and @torproject / #TorBrowser and when that's not an option, a #SSH-Tunnel / #OpenVPN or #WireGuard-#VPN to be able to #VNC into a machine.

Remember: They can only extract data that was saved on a machine!

@mixel @korporal @Artikel5eV Wenn dein Browser beim Aufruf einer Website abstürzt, ist dein Browser kaputt. Ich benutze unter Android inzwischen andere Firefox-Forks: #Ironfox oder #TorBrowser. Beide zeigen https://artikel5ev.de/ ohne Probleme an. Vielleicht braucht dein Telefon mehr RAM?

@CppGuy @fesshole the only thibg you can do is force Google to nuke history and take it as lession to use #DuckDuckGo's #OnionService on @torproject / #TorBrowser instead.

@f @ai6yr @briankrebs I think it's less of a "#political" question but an act of #SelfDefense and #MutualDefense at this point.

So far @torproject / #TorBrowser set to highest security settings is the most secure option that has proper maintenance & track record and ain't a #TUI-only app like #LynxBrowser.

Re: #TechIlliterates that are unwilling to learn, act like a "#BenevolentDictator" and enshure they can't harm themselves in the sense that they don't get #sudo or other administrative privilegues and can't do any #persistent #changes.

And if that means they get forced to use #Tails then that's a "necessary evil"...

After all, societies almost everywhere ban people from driving motor vehicles faster than 6 km/h by people who actively refuse to even take basic exams and classes for a #DrivingLicense.

And I'm convinced one can do more damage as #TechIlliterate with a #PC than a single-cylinger two-stroke engine driven motorcycle...
