But then again when enthusiasts like @fuchsiii and I were shouting "#ShutUpAndTakeMyMoney!" to #Mozilla, they basically refused to sell any #device, and then we get the "#PSvita-Effect":

Yes, I do use multiple devices and I want to be able to pick them freely.

Same with #eSIM: I can put that on a #SIM #Card *but I can't swap the soldered-down #Chip!

#Fairphone could've offered / included an #eSIMcard (yes, these do exist!) and thus solved the entire issue: offering #eSIM & #DualSIM without the need of a #TripleSIM-capable #Baseband!

And yes, I routinely use #eSIMcards because I get the #freedom and #flexibility of choice, because it's noone's business which #device I use Which #plans on!

And whilst courts in #Germany ruled it's illegal to charge for #DeciceSwaps re: #eSIMs, that is only enforceable against #MNO|s & #MVNO|s from #Germany!

Plus many plans I want to use and/or help people to setup are #SIMonly and not available as #eSIM (i.e. #netzclub)...

No, eSIM is NOT a sufficient replacement even by the sheer fact that most of my devices can't even manage an eSIM Card unless that would he possible just with #ICCDcodes and *"#SIMtoolkit" / embedded Firmware on the #SIMcard!

I dare you to try to deploy an #eSIM on a #2Gonly #StupidPhone whereas a regular SIM can just be chugged in!

@AmbianceAsunder I mean, given the listed sample of a state-sponsored attack, we can assume the attackers have some basic project management skills and being able to collect both #OSINT and mobilize local assets to collect #SIGINT on street level.

Not to mention none of the revealed info indicates they could've done it with like #OpenStreetmap / #GoogleMaps and a simple #notepad at hand.

After all, they most likely only realized that #WiFi-connected / authenticated devices are exempted by having collected #INTEL on the targeted org's employees and their workflows.

Making me conclude they had access to employer handbooks and IT documentation via a unclassified employee. But they couldn't risk have said #insider / #UC blow their cover by i.e. smuggling in an unathorized #device or sth.

It would however make sense to have someone inside as a #canary even if they ain't in #IT nor have any privilegues…

After all, depending on the organizational size it's a statistical inevitability to have privileged access...

The majority of people I've worked with want nothing to do with knowing how anything works. They just want their computer to auto-load all their bents like #magic , be able to access anything on the #Network without getting permission and install any #app on their #device they choose.

#Government , #libraries especially, need to untether from #broZone #architecture and do things for themselves again.

I'm not a #statistician and only have #anecdotal #evidence to go by, but I don't see a whole lotta folks doing, or even wanting, to do things themselves. Let alone, pick up the #skills required to do so.

The worst part, the people actually willing and able to help, can't afford to, because it doesn't #pay well, enough.

So, we all have to figure out a way to fix "that" first. But, that would require everyone believing doing #work themselves is better for them and the #Earth in the long run rather than #automating each and every #human #interaction out of #existence
