The biggest story on the BBC News website is that #cyclists who kill could face a life sentence: bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cn0w8g

Ok, fine, but from the same website: bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lond

"The Old Bailey heard Michael Mason was knocked off his bike ...on Regent Street in February 2014.

Mr Mason, 70, never regained consciousness and died days later.

The case was brought by the Cyclists' Defence Fund after the police decided not to pass the file to the Crown Prosecution Service."

Performative bull.

Cyclists who kill pedestrians could face life sentences under proposed new ‘dangerous cycling’ lawroad.cc

I am quite content for the law to be updated, although manslaugtet or even murder charges can be brought surely. However this is a distraction pandering to the car mad.

theguardian.com/news/2025/apr/

Cyclists involvement - close to zero. Car involvement in reckless inhuries or deaths inn the year ending June 2024:

(Edit: Just passing this along, not doing the article.) Looking for #cyclists in the #EastBay to help a reporter (Cristina) doing a cycling and climate resiliency article:

“Hi all, I'm a freelance journalist putting together a story on cycling
for climate resilience publication Knee Deep Times
(kneedeeptimes.org). They're a SF Bay Area online news site focused on
infrastructure, science, and policy that will help the SF Bay navigate
and weather climate change.

“I'm writing about cycling and ways to encourage it or make it easier
and safer through infrastructure. Have talked with a Bike East Bay
representative and got some useful info about the upcoming greenway
path from Fremont to Lake Merritt BART, but would love to hear more
perspectives, anecdotes, etc to fill my piece out into a story.
Something interesting, some kind of intriguing character who bikes or
story about someone's cycling adventures.”

#Transport for #London (TfL) is beginning the second phase of work to improve Nine Elms Lane and #Battersea Park Road, starting on 28 April and due to finish by autumn 2026. The project will enhance safety and accessibility for pedestrians, #cyclists, and bus users, supporting the area’s growth. Key improvements include 1.6km of continuous cycleways, wider footways, new pedestrian crossings, upgraded bus stops, 24 new trees, and better drainage. Lane closures and traffic restrictions will be in place, with some diversions and temporary bus stop relocations. #TfL aims to minimise disruption, but journey times may increase. The work will also support local regeneration, improve climate resilience, and encourage sustainable travel.

It's a lovely city!

#Scotland: #ScotRail has launched a new #Cycle Hub at Inverness station, enhancing facilities for cyclists. Funded by the #Scottish Government’s 2023 UCI Legacy #Cycling Investment Programme, the hub offers 100 additional cycle spaces and a maintenance stand for basic repairs. Located at the Falcon Square entrance and monitored by CCTV, the hub increases the station's total bike storage capacity to 148 cycles, with an extra 48 spaces added nearby.

To celebrate the opening, pupils from Culloden Academy created artwork inspired by the local area, which now adorns the hub's exterior. Additionally, a Brompton bike hire service is available, allowing rentals via the Brompton app or website.

David Lister, ScotRail's Safety, #Sustainability & Asset Director, expressed enthusiasm for the new facility, highlighting its role in promoting active travel and making cycling more accessible for commuters and leisure #cyclists.
