#Asteroid Donaldjohanson
Lucy spacecraft snapped a close-up of asteroid 52246 Donaldjohanson, an 8 km long main belt asteroid, from 1100 km away. Named after the discoverer of the Lucy fossil, this contact binary formed from a gentle collision. Lucy will visit #Jupiter's Trojans after touring the main belt.

Beautiful emission #nebula NGC 6164 was created by a rare, hot, luminous O-type #star, some 40 times as massive as the Sun.
Seen at the center of the cosmic cloud, the star is a mere 3 to 4 million years old. In another three to four million years the massive star will end its life in a #supernova explosion.

Did We Detect Life on an Alien Planet? With David Kipping — StarTalk
https://iv.ggtyler.dev/watch?v=7wyNd8UaY3U
"Did we find life on a distant exoplanet? Neil deGrasse Tyson and astronomer David Kipping discuss the discovery of biosignatures found on K2-18b, how strong they are, and whether it means we found other life in the universe."
Rock on, #Hubble. Proud that my Mom was part of your team. https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/nasas-hubble-space-telescope-marks-35-years-from-launch/ #space #exploration #astronomy #science
Forecast? I'm guessing clouds. Clouds as far as the eye can see. Or maybe tornadoes.
Signs of life on a distant planet? Not so fast, say these astronomers - via Nature
"Big surprise": astronomers find planet in perpendicular orbit around pair of stars
Good morning from Boorloo, Whadjuk Nyoongar Boodjar (Perth, Western Australia)!
I woke up to see not only the waning crescent Moon shine through my window's limited view of the night sky, but also Venus and Saturn as well. Mercury's nearby too, but further down on the horizon. I think it's pretty under-appreciated that we can just wake up and see things like this.
Excuse the blurry photo, I don't have a camera that takes photos of celestial bodies well.
