With all that is awful about everything I'm thrilled to report some people on Fedi are still able to surprise me with some of the mad things they're annoyed about

@TheBreadmonkey I have very little experience in the Fediverse. And I am constantly surprised. Maybe "twitter" got more "conservative" but the Fediverse seems extremely on the other side to me...

It is sad the scattering we live in. I think it is by design. "Divide and conquer" tactics at play.

Gender and "race" all day...

While those in power take more and more.

@NorbertAir

You're not wrong although your quotation marks around conservative are doing a lot of heavy lifting. There is no doubt at all that Twitter is now a far right platform. Fedi is in many ways a response to all of that hate and division, although people who consider themselves on the left of the spectrum aren't short of extremists, the worst of which can be the moral-highgrounders and finger-waggers, which I will take all day long over people like Tate and Trump and Musk and all of those chumps. Culture wars are real and they are a designed distraction. I could talk about this a lot but will say instead....

If you have little experience of Fedi, I recommend you add a picture (doesn't have to be your face), a profile with what you're interested in, write a post with an #Introduction about yourself and what you're interested in, using hashtags, and follow a heck of a lot more people. This is a place you're free to be yourself and you'll find likeminded people for even the most unlikely interests. It is a mostly friendly and supportive environment that wants to support people who want to be part of the community. Interact with the people you find interesting. Your experience will improve dramatically and you will find that Fedi is a deep, rich vein of beauty and interest and fun and yes sometimes some moral outrage, but why the heck not. What is living if not to care deeply about things.
