This Is My Glasgow<p>Love these sculptures carved into a single tree which came down in Victoria Park in Glasgow during Storm Eowyn, which hit the city in January 2025. It's turned it into a wonderful interactive work of art which kids can explore and clamber all over. I don't know who it's by, but it's been signed by the artist (bottom right photo).</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgow" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>glasgow</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/victoriapark" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>victoriapark</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/streetart" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>streetart</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/publicsculpture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>publicsculpture</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgowstreetart" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>glasgowstreetart</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/stormeowyn" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>stormeowyn</span></a></p>
This Is My Glasgow<p>Memorial to John Stewart who founded the City of Glasgow Friendly Society in 1862. This sculpture, on the city's Douglas Street, is by William Kellock Brown. The aim of the City of Glasgow Friendly Society was to 'enable members of the industrial classes to arrange with one another for mutual aid during sickness or on the arrival of old age'. </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgow" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>glasgow</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/sculpture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>sculpture</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/publicsculpture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>publicsculpture</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/publicart" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>publicart</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/architecture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>architecture</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/architecturephotography" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>architecturephotography</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgowhistory" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>glasgowhistory</span></a></p>
This Is My Glasgow<p>A National Cycle Networt Millennium Mile Post on the Clyde Walkway in Glasgow. Erected in 2000, this is one of four post designs. It was created by Andrew Rowe, and is based upon the nautical and industrial heritage of his native Swansea. A programme to repaint as many of the mile posts as possible began in 2021, with each one being painted in its own unique way.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgow" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>glasgow</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/design" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>design</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/clydewalkway" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>clydewalkway</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/publicart" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>publicart</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/nationalcycleway" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>nationalcycleway</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/sustrans" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>sustrans</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/sculpture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>sculpture</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/publicsculpture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>publicsculpture</span></a></p>
