BitChute blocking UK Users.

Set aside the discussion about type of content on BitChute, they are blocking UK users due to the Online Safety Act of 2023. You may hate the content on BitChute but the legislation applies to anything the government deems problematic. As we know in the US, Governments change.

The act says that platforms with "significant users" in the UK must comply or face fines. BitChute by some estimates had 500K daily users, but I cant find how many were from the UK.

The broader question is how does the act apply to Mastodon and fediverse instances like PeerTube? As federated services they probably most do not have 500K daily users from the UK and may fly under the radar for now. But could that change?
