Dennis Wilkinson<p>Moving into week 2 of the Whisky Advent calendar, and a wee bottle of Glenkinchie Distillers Edition 2022. NAS single malt, 43% ABV, "Amontillado seasoned'. A bit of the sherry on the nose, but mostly barley and a little oak; a bit of toasted malt on the palate, with ginger and white pepper; the finish is lingering and oaky. Drier than the last few selections, still tasty.<br> <br><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/photography" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>photography</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/whiskyadvent" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>whiskyadvent</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/whiskyadvent2024" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>whiskyadvent2024</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/day7" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>day7</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/drinks" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>drinks</span></a> </p><p>1/3</p>

It’s also the last floppy in my collection. Today the actual specimen is interesting: an AOL 2.5 program disk for windows from 1995. it hails from the days of dial-up internet and „data carrier spam“, as AOL would regularly bombard you with floppies (and later CDs) containing the dial up software and often including free hours to access the net</p>

Pauline von Hellermann<p>21/52 Today on <a href="https://mastodon.green/tags/Day7" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Day7</span></a> of this <a href="https://mastodon.green/tags/COP15" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>COP15</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.green/tags/HistoricalEcology" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HistoricalEcology</span></a> series, a look at Japan's <a href="https://mastodon.green/tags/Satoyama" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Satoyama</span></a> system. I have to admit I only learned of this quite recently, when <span class="h-card"><a href="https://kolektiva.social/@BuildSoil" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>BuildSoil</span></a></span> mentioned that <a href="https://mastodon.green/tags/StudioGhibli" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>StudioGhibli</span></a>'s My Neighbour Totoro was set in a Satoyama landscape. So this is more of a <a href="https://mastodon.green/tags/fandom" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>fandom</span></a> post - both of Studio Ghibli films (which I love) and of the Satoyama system. 'Satoyama' describes the mountain foothills and arable flat land border zone. Sato (里) means village, and yama (山) hill or mountain.</p>
