Don't know where to host your files in Europe? You can create an account at #pCloud (located in Switzerland) and benefit from up to 10 GB and more of a service that promises.
If you create it from the link below, you'll be helping me by adding 1 GB to my account and then you can do the same for yourself.
Apps are offered for Windows, MacOS, Linux, iOS and Android.
@mudaste That lifetime offering is kind of interesting. Any idea what kind of software they are running? Is this a Nextcloud?
@sustainrelease I think PCloud has developed its own cloud storage platform, which is based on a customized architecture but I'm not too sure about that. I decided to give it a chance because it has been highly recommended as a good European alternative.
@mudaste
I might check on the free tier for a specified project. Generally, I'm pretty happy with the managed Nextcloud solution I have, but a lifetime subscription might be interesting, especially for saving administrative work - assuming the price is fair, and the lifespan of the company is not too short. ;)
@sustainrelease yes, from that perspective it might be a good idea.
@mudaste I'll get an account via your link tomorrow.
I don't really need the space, but at least I can then play with it and get some extra.
I got a paid 1250GB online for backups, etc. and NAS storage here at the home base.
@mudaste i've been happy with Cozy Cloud also!
@nico198X didn't know @CozyCloud. I'll have a look.
@mudaste
Just fyi: End-to-end encryption costs extra.
@dexternemrod yes, you're right. I'm testing it and if I decide to stick with the free option I'll use it with @cryptomator.
