Unction
A #poem in two parts
—
i.
A life of chronic sickness
both of body and of mind.
I am thirsting for some witness
to let my soul unwind.
All alone in a house
of prayerful solitude,
a baptistery to douse
my inner thirsty mood.
ii.
Olea sancta: Holy oil
that’s kept in this place
built on sacred soil,
a token of still grace
and of healing times
to mend my broken parts,
to cut through thorny vines,
to salve a broken heart.
Anoint my inner pains
to soothe me and console
with a charismatic rain
in the deserts of my soul.
