It feels weird this year, because while I'm technically a whole lot safer than I was in a blood-red corner of America last year, I'm still currently sitting in a city where being openly trans (or gay) is just...not done.
I'm no expert about this place, but there is a cultural comparison to America that is somewhat illuminating.

Hot take about some relationships y'all have
Not a subtoot of any one person. More like 10-15 people on here.
I'm going to say this as nicely as I can. Some of you need to look at your friends, spouses, and family with a MUCH more critical perspective. I don't think a day goes by where I don't read some toot or thread describing just nasty treatment and reactions y'all are getting from the people closest to you.
Like, the gap between what you deserve, from where I sit, and what you're getting, is consistently jaw-dropping. This goes double for those of you who are trans. But I'm talking to the cis queers and to the straights here as well.
I don't give a shit if you look in the mirror and hate yourself. Doesn't matter. You're not hateable, babe. And from the sound of it, a lot of you have folks in your lives (maybe even in your households) that have gotten way too used to scraping their boots on your gorgeous heart.
I'd be left wondering who the fuck they thought they befriended/married/raised?
Like, what apparition is in their brains, in the place where you ought to be living?
I promise you, being lonely hurts a thousand times less than being abused or humiliated, being forced to go without support, or being misgendered by an intimate partner.
You deserve better treatment, and if that starts with jerking some of these folks' chains taut again, then so be it.
I know some of you depend on these people for this and that. I hear you, I've been there. It's a shit sandwich. I'm sorry. I'm still holding out hope that you can ease your way towards a better situation. There's time.
Please. Any of you reading this, divest yourself of the resignation that's clearly been eating your soul.

You might have known me long enough to have heard me thank you for this years in the past. I still really mean it -- yeah even you, sitting there discouraged, thinking your gestures of friendship and generosity don't do enough to change things.

And if my alt text is insufficient or leaves you confused, please tell me this, too. I'm always trying to do better.
What helps me is this current setup I'm trying now. Share the photos from my phone, then add alt text in a reply when I'm back at my laptop. Struggling to see the alt text box while on my phone is really anxiety inducing, and caused me to avoid sharing photos.
When I actually get around to updating my instance, I think it has the edit post feature now? Which will make it easier to add alt text to an already posted photo, once I'm back at the computer. That will be even better.
