I believe tonight I'll be setting up a self hosted git repo. I would have done it already but my laptop is downstairs and I'm lazy.

Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later. We hit a snag with our Proxmox project. It has literally nothing to do with Proxmox, our environment is production ready, but with the software we were going to use to copy the Hyper-V VMs and translate their files into Proxmox's QCOW2 (StarWind V2V).

We know the manual process to do accomplish this task, so that is always an option, but we'd prefer to use the simpler software. Too bad this current release crashes as soon as it starts doing the V2V translation.

We're going to wait a few days to see if a new release comes out and if not we'll go the manual route...

Introduced my protegé at work to codeberg today. I encouraged him to set up an account to keep track of his coding projects for school since he said he wanted to revisit the projects he had to whip up quickly for assignments.

Gotta foster the FOSS while I can!

Our Proxmox cluster at work is nearly production ready! Tomorrow we are testing our first migration from our current production environment. Exciting times,!!

Note to self: get the proper power supply for new Proxmox node...reboots require me to hit escape to continue booting...just took down my DNS because the cluster was not complete.

Oh well, I've got a few more laptops here that I can use to add to the cluster for more resiliency. I'll have my home lab at a decent setup soon!

I feel much much better about my home lab right now. Now that I've mounted my NAS in Proxmox I've migrated a few of my VMs to that to enable High Availability. Now to replace my lower specced laptop with a newer one and possibly add another node for full HA quorum....

This also means I'll be installing a proxy server to host my own external facing services too.

Why yes I'm playing with my home lab instead of working right now...I just added my NAS as my central storage and am in the process of migrating my VMs to that storage to give me some HA options.

Today I have a free morning to myself, a brief time picking my kids up from mom's house and dropping them off at a playdate, then more free time this afternoon.

The plan is to read. We'll see where my ADHD takes me though

At work today we've gotten over the hump of setting up networking on our Proxmox environment. Right now I'm uploading an Ubuntu ISO to spin up a test server to verify the VLANs are working as expected. At the moment we are running a week and a half ahead of schedule as far as our project plan has allowed.

It feels good to be succeeding on this project, and it feels better that the OS is open source!
